Dr. Angeli Maun Akey, MD, FACP, ABIHM/ABOIM, ABAARM, IFMCP
Dr. Angeli Maun Akey, MD, FACP, AIHM/ABOIM, ABAARM is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Integrative and Holistic Medicine, and Anti-aging and Regenerative medicine. Dr. Akey has had an active medical practice in Gainesville for over 17 years and she specializes in prevention, early detection, treatment and management of diseases associated with aging. Dr. Akey holds a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Florida, where she graduated from the Jr. Honors Medical Program with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. She completed her internship, residency and chief residency at the Yale School of Medicine. She was the founding medical director of the Palm Beach Institute of Preventative Medicine and teaches doctors at conferences nationally and internationally.
Dawn Brown, PA-C, IFMCP
Dawn Brown, PA-C, has been with NFIM for over ten years and is one of the few Institute of Functional Medicine Certified Practitioners that is a physician assistant. She is a 1989 graduate of the Physician Assistant program at the University of Florida. An experienced physician assistant specializing in Family Medicine, Dawn is dedicated to helping all patients adopt a healthy lifestyle and enjoys teaching patients preventive health care. In her free time Dawn is active in her church and enjoys kayaking, going to the beach, spending time with family and traveling.
Shawna Doran, ARNP-BC, MSN
Shawna A. Doran, ARNP-BC, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner trained in functional integrative medicine and conventional medicine. She received her nursing degree in 1984 from St. Petersburg College and in 1986, she received her midwifery certification. She graduated from the University of South Florida in 1993 with her MSN. She has experience in multiple settings including women’s health care, hospitals, birth centers, and medical nutritional centers. Shawna has been in practice for over 30 years.
Elaine Davis, APRN, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC
Elaine Davis, APRN, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC is a dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience caring for adults in a variety of healthcare settings. She is licensed to practice independently in Florida and is known for her thoughtful, patient-centered approach.
She has extensive experience in urgent care, behavioral health, weight management, and palliative care. She focuses on caring for the whole person by addressing both physical and emotional health, with special attention to managing chronic conditions and improving daily quality of life. She believes that nutrition, movement, sleep, and mental well-being all play an important role in staying healthy.
Patients appreciate her calm, compassionate style and her emphasis on listening, education, and individualized care. She enjoys building long-term relationships with patients and helping them maintain comfort, independence, and overall wellness.
